Teaching Safe Bicycling

Teaching Safe Bicycling is a free “Train-the-Trainer” workshop designed to provide interested adults with the skills needed to host a youth bicycle rodeo in their local community.

Sponsored by the Wisconsin DOT's Bureau of Transportation Safety and the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin, the daylong workshop includes classroom training along with hands-on instruction.

Adult participants will learn:

  • How to organize and lead a youth bicycle training course in your community
  • How children are different from adults as bicyclists
  • Tips and skills to improve bicycling safety
  • How to identify and avoid common bicycling hazards
  • How to partner with local organizations to improve bicycle safety

Advance registration is required!

Please bring a bicycle and properly fitted helmet to this workshop. This workshop will have classroom instruction as well as outdoors hands on training. Please dress in layers and wear clothing appropriate for cycling and being outdoors. Lunch is on your own, and please bring snacks and beverages. Arrive early--the class will begin promptly at 9:00 AM! And finally, at the training please be flexible, and ready to have fun!
